Definitely a hidden gem. I had the shrimp and grits and my husband had the Gaston scramble. Both were absolutely delicious and plenty of food. The place was super busy so when we arrived, it seemed like it was the place to be. We don't have many places like this where I live so it was a welcome surprise.

Great service at this old 1946 retro location. It's like stepping back in time. The food was phenomenally delicious and it's hard to find good catfish ! The food is all locally sourced too

it's great!! however, and i don't know why, but i didn't vibe with it all that much. everyone i've been here with loves the place and wants to go back, but 2/3 times was enough for me. i feel like the menu isn't all that comprehensive and a lot of the flavors are the same regardless of what you get. that being said. omg. the boudin balls!! i don't even like boudin normally but WOW!! definitely recommend that. the mustard sauce is to die for. service is usually great despite the fact its always packed!! though you can barely hear yourself sometimes, lol. also, my parents told me my grandfather had passed while we were eating here so maybe that's why i'm not a huge fan. neat place for brunch regardless!

I can't wait to come back here and try more food. 10/10. From the service to every plate I touched, I was so satisfied leaving this place that I'm already planning my next trip to Austin just to get the chicken biscuit again. Thomas was our server and everything he suggested was perfect. You can tell there's a lot of history within the building which makes it even better.

You know a place is good when you daydream of it weeks later. #1 was the pecan cold brew espresso martini- yum yum YUM! Delicately balanced and just a little extra flavor kick compared to your ave espresso martinis. Best part is you can have one for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! #2 was the cute retro vibe, enjoyed the patio on an April Sunday morning with a group of friends. #3 was my breakfast veggie hash. The veggies were so fresh & crisp & well seasoned. Good portion for the price. #4 the cheesy grits!! To be honest I've been daydreaming of those too! Just order them- u'll thank me later! Took a long time to get our table, but we were a party of 5 on the Sunday of the eclipse, so that's understandable. I'd just suggest going early or not when ur super hungry!

No alcohol until 10am! An FYI for you non-Texans. Super cute place, like as if an old school diner, and dive bar, had a baby. Indoor booths, tables, and countertops. Plenty of outdoor patio space with large format games. GREAT PLAYLIST! Good for larger parties, reservations suggested or join Yelp waitlist. I got in right at 9am on a Sunday, place was full by 9:30am. Staff was friendly and welcoming. My server Thomas was very nice and helpful with recommendations. They remembered I wanted an am cocktail and checked in with me promptly at 9:59 lol THE FOOD: Veggie Hash - I was expecting it to be good but it was very good. Mix sweet potatoes, onion, mushroom mixture, bell peppers, and spinach. The hollandaise sauce was surprisingly delicious, as was the in house made salsa verde. And my egg was poached to perfection. Biscuit - YES! Cheesy Grits - um. YES!

I came to Sawyer & Co for the first time with my wife and some friends to celebrate a birthday. We came on a Sunday at 11:30-thankfully we had made a reservation (highly recommend) about a week in advance. The restaurant was poppin when we arrived, super busy!! We got sat not too long after the timing of our reservation. Ambiance: the restaurant has an old school diner vibe, which was pretty cool. It wasn't a huge space--tables were pretty close to one another and it was SUPER NOISY. Not necessarily a bad thing, but if you're looking for something intimate or "chill" this place probably isn't that. Very loud and was super busy, servers running left and right the whole time. My friends and I were talking pretty loud in order to hear one another. Service: our server was great!! He was super attentive and made great suggestions, including the food special for the day, which I ordered because of his descriptiveness: The Big Bob. He was quick to refill drinks when they ran low and was very transparent in communicating with us why our food took so long to come out. This leads me to my reasoning for my 4-star review rather than 5-star--our food took 40ish minutes to come out after we had placed our order. Thankfully our company made it bearable with conversations, but had it been just my wife and I we probably would have left and ate elsewhere. Food: The upside to the long delay, aside from the great service, was the food. It was delicious. I had "The Big Bob"--medium-cooked egg, bacon, sausage in a flaky, soft biscuit topped with a delicious gravy--with a side of potatoes. It was so goooood and just the right amount of food. Would I be back? Yes! But if in the next time I had to wait again for 40+ minutes for my food I might prefer to go somewhere else that serves brunch. Hopefully that won't be the case.
